Faculty interested in adding or improving instructional videos to their online courses can now enroll in ODL 230: Introduction to Instructional Video Production offered by the Office of Distance Learning Instructional Support Team.

“Videos help to humanize a course, which increases student engagement and success,” explains Dr. Francesco Crocco, assistant director for instructional support. “However, they can be challenging to produce, so this facilitated course offers guidance on how to produce simple but effective videos.”

The new video production course covers the most common types of instructional videos while introducing helpful tools, including AI tools, that can support easy video production.

Participants should expect to spend 6-8 hours completing this facilitated, one-week course.

It’s the newest addition to the suite of facilitated and self-directed professional development courses offered by the Instructional Support Team. While these courses can be applied as part of the pathways to earn ULearn Certified Teacher or ULearn Certified Course Designer designations, many of the opportunities can benefit experienced faculty, as well.

“This course is beneficial for all faculty teaching any modality, whether or not they’re ULearn Certified,” says Dr. Crocco.

The next cohort begins May 27. Email distancelearning@louisiana.edu to enroll.
